The Qur'an was revealed to Muhammad through a series of revelations spanning the course of about 20 years. His disciples wrote down what his revelations were. After his death people worried about the need for a single authorized version. "Tradition holds that this work was begun by Abu Bakr, Muhammad's first successor" (pg. 441). Recent scholars are unsure whether this tradition is true.

As Qur'an was being revealed prophet Muhammad swah used to compile it. When the last verses were revealed the Quran too got completely compiled then itself. So there was no gap between the revelation of last verse and final compilation of Qur'an.

So, during the life in Madina, Quran gave importance to the compulsory deeds in Islma, and the rules regarding to set up an ideal society. This means, the rules of Islam was established gradually and slowly. This is the reason why the quran was revealed in piece meal. 2. The verses of the Quran was to be stayed alive till the end of this univese. If the Quran was not revealed in piece meal, it would have been difficult for the followers of Quran to learn byheart. The Quran was later compiled from the memories of the companions and from the records written by some of the writers of the Prophet. At the same time, the quran if was revealed at once, this facilities would have been lost.
