10,360. There were a total of over 20,000 soldiers lost from both sides in that battle.
i dont Knoo nd I dont Care
The fact that I remember best about the casualties (Not dead) at Shiloh is that the ~23,000 on both sides were more than those in all the wars the US had fought to that date. It was a real shock to those people on both sides who thought it would be a short war...
The Union had victory!both sides claimed victory but it was the union who actually won
The battle of Shiloh.
The Battle of Shiloh in April of 1862 was a major two day battle. Casualties on both sides were very high. It was a Northern victory however, Union General Sherman remarked that the death toll was so high that General Grant was deeply effected by the battle. Sherman elaborated on this in his memoirs.

With almost 24,000 casualties, the Battle of Shiloh was known for being the costliest battle in U.S. history, at that point. Despite a victory on the Union side, Grant's reputation was tarnished after the Battle of Shiloh because journalists reported that he was drunk and unprepared for the battle. It also showed both sides that the war would be long and bloody because this particularly costly battle seemed to have little effect on ending the war sooner.

The first day of the battle ended in stalemate with both sides planning to attack the next day. The Union received reinforcements at night, that came by steamship on the river, and the next day they were able to defeat the Southern soldiers. It was a very bloody battle, with both sides losing very many people.
