LIfe in Germany during World war two was kind of suspsious. Every corner you turned there could be a Nazi solider of a person running away from a Nazi. Someone could have been holding a gun. Anything could of happened. Everyone was suspicious.
During the 1930s the Nazi Government was establishing, centralizing, and expanding it's control of it's territory. 1939-1945, Germany was at war (WWII) against the allied powers. 1945-1950 Germany was being rebuilt under the close suppervision of the victorious allied countries.
Terribly oppressive. Life under a Nazi regime wasn't easy for civilians - especially if those civilians happened to be Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, or anyone else who didn't fit Hitler's 'ideals.'

In 1930 Germany was still known as the "German Empire" or "German Realm" (German- das deutsche Reich), though today the German government during the period from 1919 to the Nazi "forcible coordination" (Gleichschaltung) in 1933 is commonly called the "Weimar Republic" (German- Weimarer Republik) because its constitution was established in the German city of Weimar.
