How was the Lockheed Martin logo created?
Two overlapping arrows: One pointing up represents high quality. One pointing right represents innovation.
The name Lockheed Martin came from the merger of Lockheed Corp. and Martin Marietta Corp. in 1995. The Lockheed name came from aviation pioneers Allan and Malcolm Lockheed. The Martin name came from aviation pioneer Glenn Martin. The Lockheed brothers and Glenn Martin had each founded their own aircraft companies.
The Company who designed and are building the F-35 JSF is Lockheed Martin, although Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems did help in the process. However, Lockheed Martin is getting the applause for it. Lockheed Martin have admitted that BAE Systems did have to correct them on the VTOL engines, for they could not get them to work efficiently enough.
