The idea of black holes was first proposed mathematically long before we found the first physical evidence of their existence.
The earliest notion of a black hole was proposed in by John Michell in 1783 by John Michell who reasoned, based on Newtonian mechanics, that a star with an escape velocity grater than the speed of light may appear dark. The concept of a black hole based in general relativity, which is how we currently understand them, was proposed in 1916 by Karl Schwarzschild, but even then the idea was though of as a mere mathematical curiosity. Work done in the 1930s suggested that some stars may indeed collapse into black holes.
The first likely black hole to be found was found in the Cygnus X-1 system, a binary system. The blue star in the system is pulled by the gravity of a very massive but compact object that emits extremely intense X-rays. Based on estimates of its size and mass, the only likely explanation is that the X_ray source is a black hole. The X-rays form as the black hole pulls in gas from the star. That gas becomes extremely hot as its spirals toward the black hole and emits powerful X-rays.
Well its made of matter and a whole other things that has not been discovered and will never ever ever ever ever ever ever be discovered because its impossible to find out.
It depends. There is something called whitewholes, but it is not white. A whitewhole is like a black whole but the difference is that a black whole tips a whole though time and spaceand kills you instantly from the super fast speed or from where the black whole takes you which is a place no one ever seen. A whitewhole only rips a whole though time not space. That means that that you can go back in time or forward in time so the answer is yes and no.
Originally black diamonds were discovered in Brazil is the mid to late 1800s. Today, these extremely rare stones are found in places such as Australia and Venezuela!!!

Sunspots were discovered in 1610 by Galileo.
Karl Schwarzschild discovered black holes.
Joseph Black discovered carbon dioxide (CO2).
Your use of "the" black hole seems to indicate that you are thinking about one specific black hole. Please clarify which one - there are several known black holes, discovered at different times.
Not Just one person discovered it a whole scientist community discovered it
Black bears have been known to mankind for hundreds of years and it is not recorded who discovered them
and what is black gold exactly?

Holes, which include black holes and ozone holes were discovered in the space and atmosphere respectively. The black hole was discovered in the space and ozone holes were discovered above the Antarctica.
Black footed ferrets where discovered by John Audubon and James Bachman in 1851
Not every galaxy, star, and corner of the universe has been discovered, but we have discovered the universe as a whole. ------------------------- Most likely we never will since the universe is expanding at approximately 40 miles per second.
The ozone hole was discovered by Dr. Farman. He discovered it over Antarctica.
Joseph Black discovered CO2 hope this helps!!! x
