GDP of Tokyo is raked as highest in the world. The second is NYC. Although NYC has the largest stock exchange market, Tokyo has the 3rd largest.

Yucho bank, the world's biggest bank by asset has its headquarter in Tokyo. The most of big Japanese companies' headquarters are in Tokyo, therefore Tokyo metropolitan government's tax revenue is also very wealthy.
It is said that in 2050, Tokyo will still be the wealthiest city in the world by GDP and GNP.
