How were antiseptics discovered?
Joseph Lister published a paper (Antiseptic Principle of the Practice of Surgery) in 1867, based on the works of Louis Pasteur in studying putrefaction. He advocated the use of carbolic acid to kill germs. His paper preceded the widespread use of antiseptics in surgery.

Antiseptics, were discovered by Joseph Lister in the late 1850's .
What scientist discovered how to use chemical antiseptics to control surgery related infections by microorganisms?
I think Antiseptics maybe. Before there was antiseptics there was no sanitation. Also penicillin which was discovered accidentally which saved millions of lives from infections. I'm sure there are millions of useful inventions but those seemed to me to be the more important.
1847 was when the idea of germs first came around when it was discovered that if doctors washed their hands it reduced the risk of infection
how do antiseptics kill bacteria
The enzymes in the body are probably get destroyed by the antiseptics. Antiseptics are usually poisons for humans also and they ruthlessly kill the bacteria.
Antiseptics are used to clear the area/articles free of germs.
Joseph Lister, a British surgeon, doubted this explanation. For many years he had explored the inflammation of wounds, at the Glasgow infirmary. These observations had led him to considered that infection was not due to bad air alone, and that 'wound sepsis' was a form of decomposition. He used formalin. He is known as the father of Modern surgery. Various antiseptics were discovered later.
When lever chemicals put phenol into a washing-up liquid (I think it was marketed as an antibacterial), it was quickly withdrawn when it was discovered that anyone having excessive contact with it lost all the skin on their hands!
Antiseptics, such as alcohol, don't actually kill bacteria but usually prevent them from growing/reproducing. They change the environment and reduce the "food" supply. Other antiseptics can destroy bacteria by attacking their cell membrane.
When used for cleaning or hygiene, antiseptics and disinfectants kill or neutralize viruses, bacteria and sometimes fungi.
Antiseptics kill germs on skin and objects. Antibiotics are treating bacteria inside the body or on a wound.
Disinfectants relates to infections, I suspect. While antiseptics deals with things that has to do with "septics", perhaps in toilets and washrooms??
antiseptics target the bacteria and alter the PHof their enviroment toa more basic or acidic level in which they cant live or grow in
Marguerite Wayman has written: 'Effect of certain antiseptics upon the activity of amylases ..' -- subject(s): Antiseptics, Enzymes
Joseph Lister . . .
Antiseptics kill bacteria in bacterial infections. They also prevent any other germs from entering the site of the infection such as in a cut.
Sir Alexander Fleming conducted research in bacteriology, chemotherapy, and immunology. In 1922 he discovered lysozyme, an antiseptic found in tears, body secretions, albumen, and certain fish plants, and in 1928 he discovered the mold that led to the development of penicillin. His discoveries were mainly in the field of medicine, especially the commercial manufacture of penicillin and antiseptics.
it was invented becoz in the early years people were not having much knowledge so people realized that people mar rahe hai and they invented antiseptics
a analgesics. Antibiotics are for infections. Antiseptics to clean wounds etc and kill germs externally
Antiseptics are not known to interact with any other medicines. However, they should not be used together with any other topical cream, solution, or ointment.
He invented antiseptics.
Commonly used antiseptics for skin cleaning include benzalkonium chloride, chlorhexidine, hexachlorophine, iodine compounds, mercury compounds, alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide.
He invented in 1869 :)
antiseptics are used on living tissue disinfectants are used on non-living things disinfectants are also much stronger and are too toxic to be used on living tissue
Your question covers 200 years, with many changes in medical practices in that time. Doctors began using antiseptics, and anesthesia in the early 1800s, and X-Rays were discovered towards the end of the 1800s. Germ transmission of disease was discovered, and vaccinations came into use. The 1900s saw the use of antibiotics, and medical advances including cloning and organ transplants.
Antiseptics don't change the way your body fights disease. They only help your body do so by decreasing the number of disease-causing microbes on your skin & in your environment.
alcohol, iodine, hydrogine poroxide
Anaesthetics are chemicals that makes a patient go unconscious and/or feel no pain. Antiseptics are chemicals that are used to make certain areas, tools and items in a hospital sterile, so no diseases can infect the patient in an operation
the sun is one of the best antiseptics ever
Antiseptics, antibacterial agents, and antibiotics.
Not necessary, but most of the oxidizing agents are antiseptic
They both kill bacteria. Antibiotics usually work inside the body by inhibiting some enzyme that is critical for the bacteria but not so much for people. Antiseptics are usually chemical agents that kill bacteria on inanimate surfaces.
jncncnnckkd dont know dont care
I think you mean Edward Jenner: Vaccination & antiseptics and all that....
The group and type of medicines that fight microbes are antibiotics and antiseptics.
Not on their own. With antiseptics and cleaning agents then yes.
Due to the lack of early drugs to combat the newly discovered germ the only defence was cleanliness. The sterile handly of wounds and the medical equipment became the first defence against germs. This then lead way for antiseptics and then drugs to combat micro-oganism caused disease.
I'm not sure about deodorant, but disinfectants literally do as the name says, the disinfect the area stopping germs and bacteria spreading, preventing diseases and infections. Antiseptics remove and kill bacteria and if the bacteria can not be spread then nor can the disease.
The first use of antiseptics was by Joseph Lister, he invented carbolic acid.
picric acid for burns treatment use as antiseptics'
the non-metal element iodine is used as an antiseptic
One of them was Carbolic aid made by Joseph Lister
this are pesticide, antiseptics, soap, detergent, solvents, insectisides, paint and synthetics.
Bases are used for cleaning products such as bleach. Acids are used for antiseptics and vinegar and juices.
Experimental application of topical antiseptics like hexachlorophene almost completely prevented these rashes.
doesn't sound good, give the vet a ring, they carry the appropriate antiseptics and antibiotics
