children in the 1730's were viewed as quite pompous, that is if they were rich. children from poor family's were looked down on by rich adults. they were considered the way lower cast Indians are now. these children were given jobs such as street sweepers and chimney cleaners. rich children did not need to work nor did they have any desire. children that were poor often died at young ages from lack of nutrition etc. many chimney cleaners died from the soot, heat or suffocation. as some say the rich got richer and the poor got poorer.
