It would make the greenhouse effect stronger.
The greenhouse effect, either the natural base rate that keeps our earth from freezing over or the enhanced effect attributable to manmade emissions of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide and methane), absorbs heat from sunlight and releases it to the total atmosphere which in turn keeps the earth warmer than it would be with a strictly oxygen, nitrogen argon atmosphere.
At balanced levels (carbon dioxide in from decomposition and other sources equal the carbon dioxide out to various sinks) the temperature stays constant. With an over abundance of carbon dioxide the level goes up and the temperature rises.
Increased GHGs and subsequent temperature increases is essentially an under damped system. This means:
Photosynthesis removes carbon dioxide, a powerful greenhouse gas, out of the atmosphere. If there were enough plants and trees then the greenhouse effect would be reduced.
Cooler global temperatures
The higher you go, the less dense it would get
Earths atmosphere has changed in a few ways. It contains more pollutants and carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas.
They have increased the levels of the greenhouse gases.(Apex)
When we began to seriously burn fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) we released billions of tones of EXTRA carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This changed the natural greenhouse effect to an enhanced, or accelerated greenhouse effect.
They can be changed into photochemical smog, which occurs when nitrogen and all of those crap gases we send to the atmosphere mix. They can also mix with water to become acid precipitation.

Factories have been burning coal and oil for 200 years. This has put vast amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases building up, are giving us an enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effect which is causing global warming.

Well in the past 100 years or so there have been increasing amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to anthropomorphic reasons like the industrial revolution and the burning of fossil fuels.
I guess that the atmosphere would change in terms of depth if the planets temperature changed enough.
Lakes and oceans would be effected because if the boiling point changed, the water could evaporate...not sure about the atmosphere. Sorry!
Atmosphere has changed much with the advent of time. The concentration of ozone in atmosphere has gone down.
