What type of rock suffers from weathering most quickly?

that would be ether sand stone or lime stone Cheers Gym_

How does the surface area of a rock affect the rate of its weathering?

Of two rocks with the same composition, texture and porosity, there are multiple factors affecting their rate of weathering. Generally speaking, however, smaller rocks would tend to be mechanically weathered more quickly because they are more prone to transportation by the agents of erosion. This transportation by wind, water and ice exposes the smaller rock to more abrasion and fracture which quickens its rate of weathering. Chemical weathering also occurs more quickly in the smaller rock, as the rate of chemical weathering is directly related to the relationship of surface area to a rock's volume. The higher the surface area in proportion to mass, the quicker the rate of weathering; thus the smaller rock would weather faster.

What type of weathering would sanding a rough board to make shelves be?

chemical weathering

When does a rock have lower rate of weathering?

a rock would have a lower rate of weathering when it has more surface area exposed to weathering.

Are weathering and erosion the same process?

Both chemical and mechanical weathering breakdown a rock into particles, just in diffrent ways. Mechanical weathering is the physical weathering in which a rock is broken down into particles. Chemical weathering is the weathering in which rocks are disolved, decomposed , or loosend to change the minerals in the rock.

Does the Atacama Desert experience physical weathering or chemical weathering?

Since it rarely rains in the Atacama, nearly all weathering would be physical weathering caused by the wind.
