Blue Book of Gun Values has a store brand chart. Also, e-gunparts.com Sears used the Ranger trade tame prior to WWII. Sears used a numerical code to identify the manufacturer with numbers to the right of the decimal point to indicate the particular model. Ranger 101 bolt action was probably made by Stevens or Savage but one would need the full number (for example 101.xxxx) to narrow it down.
Ranger Shotguns were sold by Sears Roebuck and Company. Several companies made the Ranger including J. Stevens Arms, Merlin, and Hunter Arms.

The Ranger tradename was used by Sears Roebuck. Model 101.2 is the Savage model 238. You can't get an exact date on these, but it was probably sometime between 1945 and 1965. Value would be $100 or so.
