By definition, any temperature over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celcius) is a fever.

The significance of a fever is highly variable, however. The height of the fever is very rarely significant, unless it is above 105 to 106 degrees.

Viral illnesses are the most common causes of fever, but there are many causes, depending on the person, their age, and their other medical problems.

Yes, it's definitely very high. If you have this during the day, stop eating those fatty/sugary/salty foods and eat vegetables. Garlic is great, too. Substitute beans for meat.

Your temperature may be caused by high blood pressure or high cholestrol.

No, but it does indicate something is wrong, but as for being an immediate emergency, no. Infants can sustain higher temperatures than we adults, what those are exactly I dont know. Check with a doctor.

Normal is 98.6, so 99.0 is not considered hi. However, it is considered a low grade temperature. It tells you something is going on (cold, infection etc.). If it persists, I would check is out with your doctor.
