there is no other way to know for sure, but the VIN is located in 3 different places on the ATV if that is the problem. The easiest place to find the VIN is look at the frame, it is stamped into the frame usually on the left side, under the foot-rest.
Find the VIN, then use the chart on the link in the related links seciton. It will help you find the year.
There is a code on the frame rail under the seat,make a note of this and tell your Yamaha dealer he will then be able to asertain the year of your bike.Normally the 10th digit of the frame # will tell you also but this only works on 2 wheelers.
