He enjoyed the chase. When the wife found out he had no interest in the mistress anymore because she was just entertainment, nothing serious. If she was he would've left his wife.

If a man is that unhappy in his marriage and loves the mistress then he can be a man and get a divorce and marry the mistress. The odd thing is few men ever marry their mistresses and simply use a mistress for sex.

Honestly, all it probably means is that he still is physically attracted to his mistress(which doesn't last, if it isn't more). Maybe things aren't going well at home (go figure... he got caught cheating!) But, it definitely isn't true love. Everyone deserves true love! If it were true love, he (a)would have left his wife when he realized that SHE was not his true love, and/or (b)wouldn't be LOOKING at his mistress, but TALKING to her!

Speaking from personal experience, he would probably stop talking to that mistress and lose passionate feelings for her in a short time-span. But, he would most likely find another(maybe even the same) mistress in a while, due to his lack of feelings for his wife.
