There is nothing. At least, as close to nothing as you can imagine while still

having 'something' there. I've read that the 'something' in space averages

around one atom per cm3 ... less than 15 atoms in a cubic inch. That, and

a lot of electromagnetic waves carrying energy in the form of radio, light,

X-rays and gamma rays in every possible direction.

It may not be true any more, but when I was in school, we read that even

with all those atoms in space, space is still a much better vacuum ... closer to

totally nothing ... than the emptiest vacuum that can be pumped in any

Earth-bound laboratory.

But the basic answer to your question is still . . . Nothing. Even more nothing

than any Seinfeld plot.
