You wouldn't be able to repeat them during college time (college is usually full-time education) - but you could sit them as an evening class.
It is normally the other way around. If you can be employed easily in your intended field with just 2 years, i would say go for it if you don't have to repeat the year. In Ireland, if you switch from a 4 year to 2 year course and have to repeat a year, you will have to pay full course fees for that year. If you do it the other way around, you just have to pay registration fee (still >€3000 nonetheless)
