Possibly.
Fairly recently a second type of ADD became accepted by the medical community. This is type II or Daydreamer. There is less H - hyperactivity involved and people who have it tend not to get into trouble in school. Therefore they (including many women) or we never were diagnosed as children. I was 37 when someone finally figured it out.
I have the same symptoms you describe. I forget where I put everything: keys, wallet, etc. And while looking for my keys I set my wallet down and then have to go looking for it after I find the keys. It would take me a long time to leave my apartment on some days.
I daydream or "space our" constantly, even walking down the sidewalk I often trip over the curb as my mind is somewhere else.
Only a medical professional can properly diagnose the condition and make sure you go to an ADD specialist who is aware of all the new research findings.
A few other symptoms I shall list:
1. impulsive nature
2. thrill seeking behavior: drugs, gambling, dangerous sports
3. function well under deadlines
4. procrastination and disorganized
5. And the big indicator, oddly enough, is the ability to hyperfocus on occasion. That is to completely become completely absorbed in a single task for an hour or more oblivious to anything else happening around you.
ADD or ADHD is technically incorrectly termed. The actual condition is not attention deficit; rather a lack of control of attention mechanism. The hyperfocus state occurs at unpredictable moments just the same as spacing out.
So, if you have experienced moments of hyperfocus, chances are likely ADD is involved.
Again, the only way to know for sure is to consult a medical professional - which I am not.
