You absolutely can! The Flute and piccolo are in the same key (the key of C) so you can definitely use a flute book or sheet music to play the piccolo. The only differences you will find is that the piccolo is an octave higher, and the keys are closer together, but with practice, it will be similar.
A fun fact for you-- the piano is also in the key of C (I believe) so you can also play piano music on your flute or piccolo. I have done this, and the only semi-difficult thing is that when the piano score has chords, you have to choose which part of the chord you will play. If you have other flautists with you, you can each play a different part of the chord, and it sounds beautiful. Or, if you don't mind transposing the music for different instruments, and you have friends that play different instruments, you can play a beautiful duet, trio, quartet, etc. with your friends!
To play they use their fingers, unless it's a nose flute.
it would be piccolo if it is considered in the flute family.
The name of a mini flute instrument is called a piccolo.
The piccolo has the highest pitch, then the standard flute, and then alto.

Flutes and Piccolos don't use reeds. Also for E.C., an oboe doesn't use a reed either. :)
The piccolo is higher than the flute! :)
piccolo has a higher pitch than the flute. Piccolo and flute have the same fingerings and notes it just sounds like the piccolo is playing a higher note but they arent
as a matter of fact, the piccolo is higher in sound then the flute! its amazing how such a little instrument can produce a high sound!!!
A piccolo plays the higher note over the flute, because the Piccolo's small size can leed to a high pitch, and is designed to have a shorter stem, so it's not just a small flute, so it is way higher than the flute. --By exactly one octave. They do also have the same fingerings.
