If you lived in a elliptical galaxy how would the nighttime sky look different?

There is the potential that there would be a drastic difference in what we see at night. Since the rest of the galaxy is what we are viewing when we look at the star field, having an elliptical galaxy could create a 'void' of stars in certain section of the sky where the bands of the galaxy were no longer present (compared to the current system).

Yes it would. Our galaxy is a spiral and fairly flat. When we look around our own galaxy, some parts of the sky are only thinly populated with stars but there is a line of dense stars called the milky way which is looking through the flat disk of our galaxy. An eliptical galaxy is different. It is not a flat disk but more like a ball or an egg. If we lived near the centre, no matter which way we looked, the number of stars would be about the same. If we lived on the edge of the galaxy, one side of the night sky would be filled with stars and the other side would have very few to almost none.
If civilization lived on a planet in an E0 galaxy do you think they would have a Milky Way in the sky?
It's doubtful if a civilization could still exist within an elliptical galaxy due to the age of the stars. If they could, then the sky would have a slight red tinge, nothing like the Milky Way.
