Archimedes was a Greek mathematician. He came up with quite a
few formulas and some significant work regarding Pi. However, his
work was not elaborated on until more modern times.

Archimedes had a great impact. The greatest impact I think he had was finding the value of pi (pie) which is 3.14159. It may look more familiar if I show you the symbol- π

Archimedes was taught by many and influenced by many too, but his school teachers made quite a big impact on his intellegence and got him interested in Physics and other subjects. One of his teachers was Dr John Gibbins and in later life was apparently one of Archimedes' good friends.

Archimedes made many things. He made (invented) the Archimedes screw which helps farmers with their irrigation. He also supposedly made Archimedes Death Ray (which is a myth) and Archimedes Claw which is said unrealistic by modern engineers.
