There is also a contentious gunshot situation that is sometimes thought to be a fourth death, though I will try to explain why it is not.One: The Master drowned Buffy during a fight in the season one finale. Buffy throws herself into the portal to save her sister's life, and the world, and consequently dies. Despite falling another 300 feet after she is dead and the portal is closed, this is noted as being a very "pretty" death, as Buffy has nary a scratch on her.Buffy was brought back in the following season six opener by Willow, Xander, Anya and Tara, via a powerful spell that required the Urn of Osiris - a spell that had several repercussions throughout the year - and an act that ultimately set up that year's entire arc in many ways. Buffy dies at the end because the master (BIG VAMP) drowns her but then Xander and Angel find her. Xander does mouth to mouth and brings her back to life where she goes and kills the master. Darla also dies in season 1, (she is killed by Angel). She is brought back by Wolfram and Hart in "Angel."

The only times there was black magic would have been in the end of season 4 when Willow is all evil and a little before that when she is really getting sucked into it. Also at the beginning of season 5 when Willow, Anya, Xander bring back Buffy from death. Other than that I think all of the magic is good magic, esp. the very end of the series when Willow uses like super white magic to channel all the power into the potential Slayers.

Why was Buffy the vampire slayer cancelled?
Although it was never released to the public, there were two main reasons for Buffy the Vampire Slayer to end at season 7. One major one was the fact that the lead actress Sarah Michelle Geller publicly announced that she wanted 'a break' from acting as Buffy, and her contract had finished at season 7. Another reason was that the shows creator Joss Weldon got overly confident. He had an ongoing argument with some of the major TV producers, and so when the contract between Buffy and the Channel that it ran with ran out after 7 years, he left it too late to update.
