In designating the relationship of cousins, removed means that one cousin is one or more generations further removed from the common ancestor than is the other cousin.

∙ 12y agoWhen they say removed, then they mean the difference in generations. So your dad's cousin would be your cousin once removed, and so on and so forth. Usually people of the 20th century don't use this term. They just say cousin, or I call them by their first name.
