The leader of each individual state government (The Chief of State) is the governor.

The state's prosecuting attorney in each judicial circuit is called the district attorney. The district attorney represents the government when it comes to criminal offenses.

The state government is the premier of each government and in NSW our premier is Nathan Rees and he looks after the state government.

They also have the authority to regulate land use, conduct state elections, and establish local governments.
