I don't know of any statistics on that, however, the chances of you getting hurt are good depending on the skills you are trying but your injury will not necessarily be huge. For example, several girls on my team last year received concussions, one broke her elbow, I broke my middle finger on one occasion and my knuckle on another, one broke her ankle, and another broke her toe. Not major injuries as high school cheer does not typically reach the level of difficulty all star does.
TMTC (Too many to count). Watch You Tube for some videos of cheerleading bloopers.
People get hurn mostly falling out of stunts, or getting fallen on by a flyer. They can also get hurt tumbling. Many injuries can be preventes by using mats.
You can get hurt but not once you get signed up
In cheerleading you can always get hurt considering all you do. It is a dangerous sport period. As you get older and get into more difficult stunts and routines, the risk of getting hurt increases. This is why you need a good coach that knows what their doing!
Hurt it. High school musical is an example.
You are still considered a cheerleader if your an alternate, even if you do not cheer at games, or are not competing. If you practice with the team and have enthusiasm towards cheerleading, then you are considered a cheerleader. Alternates are so very important in cheerleading and can be so helpful if someone was to become sick/injured.
cheerleading is always more dangerous than tumbling ! you can hurt yourself in tumbling but many girls can die in cheerleading itself because of stunts and other activity. (cheerleaders can get dropped from up to 20feet in he air !) *college* but high and middle school is dangerous as well ! (more than tumbling)
Archbishop Hanna High School's motto is 'Turning hurt into hope for at-risk boys since 1949.'.
To be honest, there is no such thing as a "safe" cheerleading stunt. Whenever you pick/propel someone into the air there is a possibility of something going wrong and people getting hurt. Using mats decreases the risk of serious injury. The lower the stunt is to the ground, the safer it it
It is very hard you get embarrassed and choked and hurt allot.
It is possible that you could be injured in cheerleading because of there not being mats. There should always be mats or a springboard floor in cheerleading, for the athletes to practice on. If at your gym there are not, I suggest you remove your daughter from the squad immediately
the school isues is that people try to hurt each other and bullying
