If the answer to this question is yes, you are NOT an 'ex-'felon - you are still a felon. Just because you're not longer state property, it doesn't change your status as a felon. Under federal law, a FELON may not purchase, be in possession of, or have access to a firearm. Which means you can't be around them, period, regardless of whether or not it's in your possession.
