They show it little by little. For instance, in the 2nd book he gets furious when Maleficent casts a spell on Amanda. He chokes Maleficent and demands that she frees Amanda. When she does, Amanda asks something along the lines of "I didn't know you cared?" and Finn answers "I don't" while Amanda mutters something about boys.

SO as you can see, they obviously do care for each other due to minor flirting and acts of affection.
