In chapter 36 of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (GoF), the Dark Mark burning signifies Voldemort's return. Dumbledore asks Sirius to round up old friends, including Lupin. He says gravely to Snape to do what he knows he must.
Since the Dark Mark is burning, it is a summons from Voldemort for his loyal followers. Dumbledore knows this, and is asking Snape to proceed to return to Voldemort to act as a double agent.
The real question is, who will Snape *really* be loyal to in the end.
Read the sequels (or see the movies) to find out!

Yes, Dumbledore is killed by Snape in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
He left at the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Harry learned a few things, but the most important was that Harry would have to die in order to destroy Voldemort. He also learned that Snape has always loved his mother, and that he has been working as a double agent for seventeen years.
As Harry watches Snape bleed to death on the floor of the Shrieking Shack, Snape starts oozing memories, in the form of a silvery-blue substance, out of his ears and nose and eyes, and Harry gathers them up in a vial that Hermione conjures for him. He goes to Dumbledore's office, puts the memories into the Pensieve, and watches them. The memories chronicle some of the most important scenes and events of Snape's life, from his childhood with Lily Evans, to the events surrounding Lily and James' death, up until just a few months before his own death. In a nutshell, the memories prove to Harry that Snape was Dumbledore's man, through and through.

No, he loathed Harry to the very end. Everything he did to protect and help Harry, he did for Lily's sake, not Harry's.

First of all it's Dumbledore just letting you know and secondly he was killed at the end of the sixth book by Severus Snape.
Towards the end of the book 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', Voldemort orders his snake Nagini to kill Snape. As Snape is lying on the floor taking his last breaths, he gives Harry memories that relate to his protection, conversations that Snape had with Dumbledore and memories showing how Snape fell in love with Harry's mother. Harry then viewed these memories in the pensieve and was forced to realise that Snape had been attempting to protect Harry and was acting as a spy for Dumbledore all along.
