In a more earlier form of Greek, omega had a longer "o" sound whereas omicron had a shorter sound. However in modern Greek, both letters make the same "o" sound which can make spelling sometimes difficult. Majority of the times the last letter of the word will end with omega rather than omicron. Hope this helped
omicron
The 15th letter of the Greek alphabet.
The Greek letter omicron is pronounced like "ah-mih-KRAHN," with a short "o" sound. In contrast, the Greek letter omega is pronounced like "oh-MEH-gah," with a long "o" sound. Omega is typically pronounced a bit longer and with a slightly different emphasis compared to omicron.
Omicron
There are two "o"s in the Greek alphabet: omicron and omega.
The Mycenaeans spoke a version of Greek language, written in a syllabary called Linear B while the Minoan language is unknown.
The Greek letter "o" is pronounced as the short "o" sound, similar to the "o" in the English word "top."
Sentences often begin with an "H" (ita) or "O" (omicron) which are the feminine and masculine versions of the word "the." Nothing "always" begins with the same letter.

Pi is the 16th letter of the 24 letters of the modern Greek alphabet. Pi is written uppercase Π, lower case π, and in Greek the letter is named πι. It is equivalent to the English letter P. The symbol for it is the same as the mathematical term for pi, which is π.
Omega (O-mega) means big O. Omicron (O-micron) means little O. That is not how the were written, but how they were pronounced. Omega was OOO-mega, we would use it to pronounce OWN in English. Omicron was pronounced as we would use the O in COT.
