The Murray Zoom Zoom is a four wheeled kids toy for ages approximately 6-10. Its uniqueness comes from its propulsion: it is not pedaled, but rather driven by whipping the bicycle-like handlebars forward and backward. The Zoom Zoom has a low center of gravity, and the handlebars act as a lever, connected indirectly to the rear wheels and driving a small crank embedded in one. (Think locomotive propolsion, where fore/aft of piston drives main wheel(s)). Dates of the toy are unclear, but thought to be from 1950's. My kids loved it, and spent hours on it on the driveway and in a concrete floored basement. (It does not drive well on grass or other slippery surface where traction is difficult.) Origial Toy painted bight red and yellow. The Murray Company that manufactured this item was located in Laweranceville TN, and closed in Aug 2005. It specialized in tricycles in the mid-20th century, but apparently move on to many other lines of products. Information can be found at http://www.realizehope.com/About-MurrayMemories.htm
