Portugal has many unusual things about it. One of them is the melancholic national personality. Very related with the word SAUDADE (with no translation in any other language) and the national genre of music called FADO, Portuguese people tend to be very poetic and with a loving personality. This is one of the reasons why Portugal is one of the most peaceful countries in the world.

I've once heard a politic say "We (Portugal) are a country of poets not mathematicians" trying to describe the sentimentalism nature of Portuguese people in detriment of a more logical side.

You will find that Portuguese people are kind hearted people, very humble and with a great passion towards great dramatic tragedy stories like the national true story of "King Pedro and Ines".
