Inventor of beaker?

The laboratory beaker is characterized by having a 'beak' at the

rim, which aids pouring. It was invented by J J Griffin, possibly

in the 1850's. His firm eventually was the foundation of Griffin

& George, major suppliers of lab chemicals and equipment.
