It depends on the NorthBridge of the motherboard and the socket of the P4. Most intel-processor supported DDR3 Motherboard should be able to run a pentium, but remember that Pentium4 are very slow and DDR3 is still very immature. I recommend you to rather spend more money upgrading your CPU AND MOBO, rather than moving directly to DDR3.
While the particular type of RAM in a Pentium 4 system is dependent on the Northbridge version used, NOT the particular Pentium 4 CPU, there have been some Northbridge chipsets with DDR2 support.
Originally, the P4 chipsets used SDR (Single Data Rate) SDRAM. About 2001, DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM support was included in some Northbridge chipsets. Around 2004, DDR2 SDRAM was added for certain chipsets.
Support for DDR2 in a particular system is completely dependent on the Northbridge chipset. In general, only chipsets which supported the LGA775 socket format (which accepts only later model P4 CPUs - those with the Prescott or Cedar Mills designs) will have DDR2 support. This means that only 2004 or later motherboards really have any chance of supporting DDR2.
Please check the motherboard manual for your system to see if it supports DDR2. If it does NOT explicitly state DDR2 (not just DDR), then it WILL NOT WORK.
I think, there is an available mother board for Pentium 4 with ddr2 slot.
No.
A few rare motherboards support both though (but never a mix of the two as far as I know)
Its not the processor that supports a particular memory configuration, its the North Bridge that does so, and that is part of the motherboard design.
Yes, it does support DDR2 (4GB per system).
no . just the ddr 1 !!
socket l775 its compatible with it
some game can run on that but not so good.
No you can't
All Pentium 4 processors support SSE2.
512 ram
yes it is
Yes though you may not be able to run the game on it's highest settings.
e2200 would be better as it is newer than the Pentium 4 and is dual core while the Pentium 4 is single it has also been proven the e2200 is better than 2 Pentium 4 put together
Yes, depending on the motherboard. Most Pentium 4 chipsets support up to 4 GB of RAM, although the motherboard may not physically support enough RAM modules.
The RAM of an Intel Pentium 4 processor was as high as 1GB or 2GB. The chips were made between 2000 and 2008 before being replaced by dual core chips.
All members of the "Model 15" family are Pentium 4s or based on a Pentium 4 core, so yes.
Although very expensive, 4 GB DDR2 and DDR3 RAM modules can be purchased from many online retailers.
