Actually,Bridge to Terabithiais based on a true story, but is fiction. Katherine Paterson was inspired to write this book because, of something that happened in REAL LIFE!Yep, that's right. Katherine Paterson had a son, who had a dear friend named Lisa. Unfortunately, Lisa was struck by lightning and killed. Katherine Paterson wrote her book about her son David's friendship with Lisa. She dedicated the book to her son, as you know on the 2nd page if you read it. Andher son asked her to dedicate the book to his dear friend Lisa. But, notice how the characters name is Leslie, and Lisa both have 'L' and 'S' in it. Lisa RIP
