The presence or absecne of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) can be measured in both the urine and in blood.

Quantitative analysis (showing the rising levels of HCG as pregnancy progresses) can only be done in blood.

Both. Home pregnancy tests measures HCG in the urine, but in the hospital they use both tests. The blood test is more accurate but takes longer to process. A urine test takes just a few minutes, while a blood test takes about an hour.

Is hcg and beta hcg the same test for pregnancy?

They are similar. HCG tests look for the HCG hormone in either blood or urine, but it is only detected at a certain level, 20 units, I believe. Beta HCG, on the other hand, is a blood test that detects the exact amount of HCG in your bloodstream. It will give the doctor an exact number, so technically, pregnancy can be diagnosed sooner.

What is a blood test score for pregnancy?

Are you asking what level of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) must be in the blood to indicate pregnancy? Any level of Hcg is an indication of pregnancy. hCG is a hormone produced only during pregnancy, which is what they look for in both a blood, or urine pregnancy test. Hope this answers your question. =)
