But in general, Paris is for the ordinary visitor no more dangerous than London, Detroit or New York. There have been riots in the Parisian suburbs where many unemployed young Muslims live and there have been a couple of terrorist attacks, so far only in places not too much visited by tourists. Security as a result has been much tightened in Paris, certainly in the tourist areas.
