There are 2 different short/long blocks. Thier compression,piston/ rods are not the same. check link below.
Yes, they are. The 3.8 and 3.8 sc are virtually the same engine, with the supercharger being the main difference. No they are difrent! bolt patern same that's it
The crankshaft has nothing to do with a short are long block. A short block is everything but the heads and intake. A long block has the heads and intake all ready on it, Its the complete engine. You have to put the heads and intake on the short block yourself. That is the difference.
No
No.
yes you shouldent have any problems check the piston dish cc to be shure (see if they look the same)
no
Yes. The block itself is exactly the same as is the transmission mount locations. there are many things that are different electronically between the two motors and computers however.
YES IT IS. That motor has been around forever. Yes and no... It is the same engine that's been around since the 70's.However, they have upgraded the engine many times due to more strict emission standards. So in a sense it's the same engine. But some of the new supercharged engines come with more horsepower due to a smaller pulley turning the supercharger, boasting the horsepower from 240 bhp back in 1997 to 260 bhp now. This does not apply to all of GM's cars. Since Buick is using a 3.5 litre engine in their new La Crosse, they chose not to run the supercharged, but stick with the non-supercharged 3.8 engine as the base engine.

externally, they are the same. The engine mounting holes on the block are the same. the motor mounts themselves might be different though.
I'm trying to find out the same thing. Prices are very high and large snout cranks are not in stock anywhere that I can find.
No, normally that is the only part that is the same.
