1986 and older are 2 piece.
Yep, they have one. 1986 and older has a two piece rear main seal. 1987 and up has a one piece rear main seal.

1986
NO you can not. The crankshaft and rearmain cap is not designed for a 2 piece seal. Must use a 1 piece seal ONLY.
If it is newer then a 1986, yes it doe's have a 1 piece rear main seal.

You will have to pull the transmission out and remove the fly-wheel to inspect the rear main seal. It is a 1 piece round seal that slides over the rear of the crankshaft. If the rear main seal is leaking on that 2002, I would find that very odd.
You MUST remove the oil pan to change the rear main seal. It's the only way because it is a 2 piece seal that fits in the rear main cap and block.
how do you change a rear main seal in a Chevy 350 motor
How do you change a rear main seal on a 2001 Chevy 2500 HD long bed
Chevy in 1977 changed the rear main oil seal to a one piece seal. the older crankshaft wont work.
If it is a late month of 1987( Build date) then it has a 1 piece solid round rear main seal in it and you will need to remove the transmission and fly-wheel and then pop the seal out and drive the new 1 in place. If it was built before late 1987 then you will have to remove the oil pan and rear main cap to service the rear seal. It will have a 2 piece seal in it.
