the 403 is a smallblock with a big block bore. the bore is actually bigger on a 403 than it is on a 455
the big block will bolt right to the small block motor mounts but they do make big block motor mounts that you can buy and install on the 66, it lets the engine sit a little lower and further to the drivers side.
You can transplant most any motor into your Pontiac, which had a gm block originally by the way.
