Best Answer

yes centipedes have legs all the way down their body

The name "Centipede" in latin terms, means 100 feet. But despite this name, not all centipedes have 100 legs. The number of legs varies fron 20 to 300.

Centipedes are part of a super-group of invertebrates called arthropods along with millipedes, arachnids, crustaceans, and insects. Centipedes have poison claws that they use to subdue their prey.

No, they are not.

Answer

Like arachnids (Spiders, ticks, mites, scorpions, whip scorpions, sunspiders and amblypygids), centipedes are arthropods. However, of that great phylum (Arthropoda), centipedes are placed in a separate class to arachnids, the Class Chilopoda.

The centipede be not a crustacean, but a myriapod, which is a type of bug. I have heard a similar story that the Pillbug/Roly-poly/whatever-else-people-call-it being a crustacean, but those are not true.

No. An identifying feature of insects is that they have 6 legs. Centipedes have more than that. They are an arthropod, but are in the class Chilopoda, not Insecta.

No, centipedes are not arachnids. Centipedes belong in the Class Chilopoda, whereas arachnids belong in the Class Arachnida. Both classes come from the Phylum Arthropoda.
