Depends on what the gas is. Compressed air is used by Scuba divers to breathe, auto mechanics to drive lots of theirtools, carpenters for air powered nailers. Compressed oxygen is usedto help people with breathing problems in or out of the hospital, withacetylene in oxy-acetylene torches to cut thru metals.

Maybe you mean CNG, compressed natural gas, which is mostly methane, and is used as a fuel.

Yes, Gases can be compressed because the atoms in a gas are far apart so they can move closer together.

A gas is the most diffused form of matter, with the atoms widely spaced from each other. It is always compressible.

Yes. Gas is the state of matter that is compressible. You can't compress liquids and solids can only compress with an extreme amount of effort, but gases are compressed all the time.

Are gases the only form of matter that is compressible?

No. All forms of matter are compressible if you use sufficient pressure. Gases are the most easily compressible, but liquids are also compressible if you use high enough pressures. So are solids, believe it or not.

Why gases are compressible?

Gases are compressible because their molecules bounce off of each other instead of sticking together. The molecules of solids and liquids stick together instead of moving freely.

Do gases and liquids share the compressibility property?

Gases and liquid do not share the same compressibility property. In liquids, the molecules are approximately lesser compressed, that Is why they move around freely and does not have fixed shape. While gas is the most compressible and it doesn't have a shape.

What properties is shared by solids liquids and gases?

Common properties of liquids and gases: (i) Both do not have a specific shape. (ii) Both are compressible. (iii) In both the states ,substances can flow. That is why they are called fluids.

What is the compressibility of a fluid?

What kind of fluid, liquid or gas? Gases are compressible, liquids pretty much are not. (And yes, both gases and liquids are fluids; the word "fluid" comes from the same root word that gives us "flow," which both gases and liquids are capable of doing.)

Why solids is not compressible why?

solid is a state in which molecules are closely packed than liquids and gases. the inter molecular distance between the molecules of solids are less or negligible.thats why the solids are not compressible

Water is a non compssible fluid?

Fluids include liquids and gasses. Liquids are not compressible. Gasses are compressible. Water is a liquid and it not compressible.

What phase of matter shows large compressibility?

Of the three phases of matter, gases are the most compressible, in general, followed by liquids.

Does change in pressure affect the solubility of solids?

The solubility of solids and liquids show virtually no changes with pressure. However, solubility increases with pressure in the solubility of gases in liquids.

Why gases are compressible not liquids?

The molecules of gases are farther one from another than in liquids. But liquids are also compressive although in a very less scale than gases. Put some liquid in a syringe, put your finger on the output side and press the piston. You'll notice that the liquid is slightly compressed.

What is meant by incompressible viscous fluid?

Which word do you not understand? incompressible - cannot be compressed viscous - resistant to flow, "thick" fluid - substance that flows (both gases and liquids are fluids, but gases are usually compressible; liquids generally aren't)

Why gases compress?

Gases are compressible because their molecules bounce off of each other instead of sticking together. The molecules of solids and liquids stick together instead of moving freely.
