Diverticulitis is a disease that forms pouches in the colon. This can be very painful. Those that are diagnosed with diverticulitis should eat foods that are rich in fiber are substitute fiber in the diet by other means. Fiber helps to push waste through the colon much more smoothly. This will lead to less pain for the patient diagnosed with diverticulitis.
