A pond could be a heterogeneous mixture because more than one substance would be visible. Example: you could see fish, plants, algie, bugs, chemicals, and other substances in the water.

But, a pond could also be a homogeneous mixture because the water could be totally clear, or the water could be so dirty that you would only see a green or brown murky substance.
