Not necessarily. Hallmarks (stamps) are not entirely reliable - rings with stamps can be wrong, and rings without stamps can be real. You might consider walking into a jewelry store to simply ask if they have any ideas about the ring.

Legally the 14k stamp is reserved for alloys of gold that contain 14/24 gold by weight. As gold has a very high density that means that 2/3 of the volume could be another metal (copper usually, to keep the color yellowish).
