It is humane as long as you use the shock collar properly. Shock collar uses shock to correct the unwanted behavior of a dog. What's inhumane is if you use it to punish the dog. Or when you feel pleasure seeing the dog feel the shock.

No.

If a dog is aggressive it's because it has already been subjected to violence and/or ambivalent control.

To subject the aggressive dog to even more violence (and shock collars are violent) is very dangerous.

Seek help from a vet, who could refer you to a behavioral therapist. Don't even consider making your dog more aggressive than it already is; you will be putting your pet and every human and animal it comes into contact with at risk.

Consider very seriously why your dog has become aggressive and deal with that, using professional assistance.

The shock collar itself can't kill the dog, what's dangerous is the improper use of the shock collar. Improper use means that the pet owner administer a high level of shock to the dog. Always start with the lowest level of shock, if the dog did not respond, you may adjust the level. When you are trying out a shock collar, make sure you are with a professional trainer to guide you in using the collar. Remember, a shock collar is not meant to punish the dog but to correct behaviors.

Dog Shock Collars definitely work, and 99% of them are waterproof so don't worry about the rain or snow. There are 3 primary types of Dog Shock Collar

1) Dog Training Collars: Dog Training Collars have a variety of uses from obedience training to hunting. Depending on what you need the collar for this may be your answer. Be sure when purchasing a Dog Training Collar that it is a model that will work with your size dog and that it has the features you need, whether those be for obedience, multiple dogs or hunting.

2)Bark Collars: Bark Collars are designed specifically to help eliminate unwanted barking. Some only trigger a correction when hearing the dog bark so it is important when purchasing Bark Collars to buy one with a Vibration Sensor, which works together with the bark sensor to make sure only your dog can trigger the collar.

3) Electric Dog Fences: Electric Dog Fences are used to help keep your dog in your yard without the use of a traditional fence. There are two types of Electric Dog Fences, In-Ground Electric fences and Wireless Dog Fences. In Ground Fences work by burying a wire around the perimeter of your yard which will trigger a warning tone first and then a correction as your dog nears the wire. The advantage of In Ground Dog Fences is that they can be used to encompass large areas up to 40 acres, so your dog can truly roam freely. Wireless Dog Fences work without a wire and create an Zone around your property which the dog is allowed within. As they approach the edge of the allowed zone, a warning and then a correction is given. The advantage of Wireless Dog Fences is that they are very easy to install (just plug them in) and they are portable so you can bring them with you to the beach or on vacation. Both types of Electric Dog Fence can be used with multiple dogs simply by adding extra collars. Some models actually have multiple types of collars available for the same fence so you can customize your fence system to the type and number of dogs you have.

Another View:

Yes they work but I wouldn't recommend them because it can injure your dog and you shouldn't let them get wet so they don't work on rainy or snowy days.

Shock collars are used to train dogs, not humans because the human mind is more complex than that of a dog. Using a shock collar on a human is considered a wrong thing to do, if you did that to a human it would most likely be considered abuse.

Shock collars are fairly safe for dogs, but one must make sure the brand of shock collar is from a reputable company. They only give a short shock so as not to injure the dog.

Using a shock collar to train your dog may not be the best idea. Using a shock collar can actually be considered animal abuse and could even lead to aggressive behavior in the dog.
