it depends how thick the air is!
insulator. it is not a very good insulator though.
The best thermal insulator is vacuum as in the gap of the thermos bottle. Another god thermal insulators is air (as in closed cell polyurethane foam or double glaze windows, or any gas in closed environment.
Electrical or thermal? Either way, it's an insulator.
Dead air space, or motionless air.
it is good heat insulator, as it has air in it. as air is a good insulator of heat, the sponge, which has lots of pockets of air also becomes a good insulator

it depends how thick the air is!
After the published tables the silica aerogel is a very good thermal insulator.
yes it is because of all the air bubbles in it

oxygen.is the best insulator
Air (Explanation): water has a high specific heat capacity, but it can boil. stone (😂) also is a good thermal insulator, but it can get really hot. Metal is a very good thermal conductor, so it is definitely not that. Therefore, air is the best (its also really hard to boil).

The birds think so, even the Penguins! Down is a very good insulator, for it entraps lots of air compared to its own weight. With any thermal insulator, what you are buying is still air, because for practical purposes, air is the best insulator.
Styrofoam is a very porous material; air from the closed pores has a bad thermal conductivity.
