Hi An ultrasound provides a picture of the baby in the womb. The date of conception could be intelligently guessed at by your gynacologist, probably to within a couple of days if not better.
Answer
The date of conception would be calculated by the professional and the length of pregnancy is found by working back two weeks before this.
Ultrasounds have only been around for thirty years or so and before that the only way of calculating the length of pregnancy was from the first day of the last period - on average two weeks before conception as we now know.
An ultrasound
Doctors measure pregnancy from the first day of your last period, but you don't conceive until two weeks after that. Your baby was conceived 3 weeks ago.
Around Jan1st
They use ultrasound to measure the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby in the uterus, usually measured in centimeters.
After the implantation of embryo on the wall of the uterus has taken place, it takes 40 weeks for the foetus to fully develop. In most cases, the time period before the baby is born is around 40 weeks.
yes it is possible to have heavy period or bleeding while pregnant. i am a witness to this myself. i took a pregnancy test on october 30th. i got a positive result. but two weeks prior to this i had a period. i also had a heavy regular period in sept. and in aug. i was told that my exp. due date would be July 25 2010. i went for my prenatal visit yesterday and there was heavy bleeding. so my doc sent me to ultrasound to see what was going on. they did the ultrasound and the baby was fine! but i told the lady that was doing the ultrasound that the baby was a little big for 5 wks. she said oh no this baby is 10 wks and 1 day. so that changed my due date to may 25 2010. so i had been pregnant and had 2 periods even after i conceived.
You can't. Either you got pregnant after having had sex earlier, or the ultrasound operator is wrong.
There is a possibility she will have a big baby. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I bet another ultrasound has been booked that will be fine. I was induced at 36 weeks becasue Twin 2 wasn't growing. Twin 1 weighed 4lb 15ounces, Twin 2 weighed 6 lb 3ounces!!
Yes. Your baby was on his/her way before April 11. If you're 6 weeks pregnant, you conceived around 4 wks ago (doctors start counting weeks from your last period). BUT it still isn't April 24...
At this stage, yes the ultrasound can be off by 10 days. Mine was off by ten days the other way, that is I thought I was 18 weeks and the ultrasound said 16 and a half. I knew when I had conceived because my husband had been away on a trip.
Yes of course you can... many babies are conceived before a period has even been missed and just stops developing after a few days.
middle of June would be when the baby is conceived
