"emo" is short for emotional. if you read their lyrics, they are emotional in a way, but so are most lyrics of other artists.
but you're probably using the term "emo" as the stereotype of people who cut themselves and wear dark makeup. well, pete wentz, the bassist of fall out boy, does wear dark makeup, im not sure if he ever cut himself (or if any of the band members of fall out boy did/do) but i guess to categorize them as "emo" would be an opinion in a way. i dont think theyre emo. i think their music is art and not something that could just be categorized as "emo". but thats my opinion.

People call Fall Out Boy emo because they are ignorant. Fall Out Boy is emo and so are every other modern band given that label.

they are! emo is a type of music. Fallout Boy is classified under the emo music genre!
