Breathing is completely involuntary.

You have to breath . Even with out thinking you will breath.

Its actually both, but I cant remember the name of the muscle in your lungs that lets you breathe or hold your breath.

To some degree it is both, however if you voluntarily stop your breathing long enough then the involuntary control will take over and attempt to force you to breath.
