A physical change as no intramolecular bonds are broken (i.e. in the gas phase water still has the chemical formula H2O). A chemical change is one that breaks intramolecular bonds (i.e. if water were to split into H2 and O2 that would be a chemical change). Also ,please note before I used the term intramolecular NOT intermolecular. I hope this helps!
