It isn't. In terms of volume, silver is best, followed by copper, then aluminum. Aluminum is 2X better conductivity by weight than anything else. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, and their proportions can be varied to create different brasses. So if you wanted to make brass highly electrically conductive, you would add a lot of copper and silver to it. There is a common brass known as "electrical brass" that is commonly used for electrical conductor parts, and it's chief virtues are that it can be worked easily and is not expensive.
Pretty good ... better than iron, steel, nickel or zinc ... not as good as aluminum, gold, copper or silver. Also, it's important to know that brass isn't a single substance ... a brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, so there is actually a whole family of brasses ... the soft alpha brasses have more copper, less zinc, and better conductivity ... the harder and stronger alpha/beta brasses have nearly 50% zinc and less conductivity ... gaining strength and rigidity means giving up conductivity. The International Annealed Copper Standard sets the conductivity of copper as a relative standard of 100% for comparing other metals ... here is a brief list to show you how brasses measure up ... Silver 105%, Copper 100%, Gold 70%, Aluminum 61%, Soft Brass 50%, Hard Brass 28%, Zinc 27%, Iron 17%, Steels 15% to 3%
Brass is a Good conductor of electricity and is used often, in making electrical switch gear and contacts.
Brass is a fairly descent conductor of electricity, however it isn't as good as copper or silver. If you wanted to make brass a better conductor, you would add copper or silver to it. :)
Yes. It is an alloy of very conductive metals.
Brass IS a conductor of electricity
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. Copper is a very good conductor of electricity.
Yes, because it is metal it is. :)
Brass and steel are examples of alloys, meaning they're made up of more than one metal.
YES Metals are better conductors !
If door knob is a metal then it is conductor if not like wood then insulator.
brass is a good conductor, not a super conductor.
Brass will conduct both electricity and heat. So brass is a conductor, but not an insulator.
A brass paper fastener is a conductor of electricity.
Brass is a metal that conducts electricity. Therefore, a brass paper clip is a conductor.
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. Copper is a very good conductor of electricity.
A brass paper fastener is a conductor of electricity.
it is a conductor but its electrical conductivity is only 28%as conducive as copper.
Yes, because it is metal it is. :)
Sure. Any metal - or alloy - is a good conductor of electricity.
Brass and steel are examples of alloys, meaning they're made up of more than one metal.
YES Metals are better conductors !
If door knob is a metal then it is conductor if not like wood then insulator.
